Job Summary

Greeley Lock & Key is seeking a highly motivated and mechanically inclined individual to join our team as an Apprentice Locksmith / Level 1 Technician. This entry-level position is designed for rapid learning and growth within the physical security and automotive technology fields. The ideal candidate possesses strong customer service skills, excellent computer proficiency, and a passion for problem-solving. You will receive hands-on training while providing essential support to our field technicians and contributing to the smooth operation of our shop.

Key Responsibilities & Training Opportunities

This role offers comprehensive training across multiple aspects of the modern locksmith trade, combined with critical daily operational duties:

Training & Technical Development (What You Will Learn):

• Basic Locksmithing Skills: Learn the fundamentals of mechanical lock and key systems, including rekeying, key duplication, servicing standard hardware, and understanding different lock mechanisms.
• Automotive Key Programming: Master the use of diagnostic tools and specialized equipment to program transponder keys and remotes for a wide range of vehicles.
• Safe Sales & Consultation: Be trained in safe inventory, security ratings, and features to confidently assist customers with their safe purchase decisions.

Operational Support & Administration (Daily Duties):

• Job Prep & Logistics: Organize and prepare necessary parts, tools, and paperwork for field technicians before dispatch, ensuring they have everything needed for efficient service calls.
• Receiving & Inventory Control: Accurately receive, check, and stock incoming products, ensuring all items are accounted for and ready for use or sale.
• Customer Service: Act as a primary point of contact via phone and in-person, providing professional and helpful assistance, greeting customers in the shop, and answering preliminary technical questions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Exceptional Mechanical Aptitude: Must be comfortable working with small parts, tools, and mechanical systems. A natural inclination for disassembly and reassembly is essential.
• Advanced Computer & Troubleshooting Skills: Proven ability to work proficiently with computer software, manage digital information, and independently troubleshoot basic computer and device issues related to programming and diagnostics.
• Customer Service Excellence: A friendly, patient, and professional demeanor is required. Must be able to manage customer inquiries and high-stress situations with composure.
• Excellent Phone Etiquette: Clear and effective verbal communication skills are necessary for scheduling, relaying complex information, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to inventory checking, job preparation, and technical documentation.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs (e.g., product boxes, lighter safe models) with assistance.
