Title: Bioinformatics Scientist - III Location: Cambridge, MA Contract Duration: 12 Months Pay Range: $60.00 - $90.00 USD hourly on W2 Job Description: We are seeking an experienced data scientist specializing in genetic data analysis to join our innovative research team. Key Responsibilities: Data Ingestion: Query external databases such as dbSNP, 1000 Genomes Project, gnomAD, GTEx, Ensembl, Open Targets, and ClinVar to acquire relevant genetic/genomic datasets. Genetic/Genomic Data Analysis: Conduct quality control and analysis of genetic data, including genotype imputation, variant calling, and annotation using tools like IMPUTE, Minimac, Eagle, BEAGLE, GATK, bcftools, samtools, and ANNOVAR. QTL Analysis: Perform QTL analysis to identify genetic loci associated with quantitative traits using tools such as PLINK, R/qtl, or TASSEL. Population Genetics Analysis: Analyze genetic variation across populations, including allele frequency estimation, linkage disequilibrium, and population structure. Data Integration: Integrate genetic data with other omics datasets (genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic, proteomic) for comprehensive insights. Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation of methods and results promptly. Qualifications: Required: Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, Computational Biology, or a related field. Over 5 years of proven experience in genetic data analysis. Strong understanding of statistical methods, variant analysis, population genetics, and genomic annotations. Proficiency in R, Python, and Bash, with best practices for reproducible analyses. Experience with HPC systems and AWS Cloud (IAM, S3). Collaborative, self-motivated, with excellent communication skills. Preferred: Experience with real-world genetic data processing. Proficiency in genetic/genomic analysis tools and techniques. Knowledge of statistical genetics and AI/ML. Notes: Onsite role in Cambridge, MA. Remote candidates or those with only BS/MS degrees are not suitable.
