Campaign Director

Job Summary

McQuaid Jesuit, a Catholic school in Rochester, NY, teaching boys’ grades 6-12, seeking a Campaign Director. The Campaign Director will serve as the primary architect and driver of the campaign, coordinating strategy, cultivating top prospects, stewarding volunteer leaders, and collaborating across Advancement and School leadership. This is a highly visible, externally focused leadership role requiring significant experience in campaign strategy and major gift development.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with the President, Vice President of Advancement, Senior Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving, Board of Trustees, and volunteer leadership to execute all phases of the campaign
  • In collaboration with the VP of Advancement, manage a portfolio of leadership and major gift prospects with the capacity to make six- and seven-figure contributions
  • Develop and manage a dynamic pipeline of donors and coordinate targeted visits over three years in partnership with campaign staff
  • Engage alumni, parents, and community members through personalized strategies, events, and campaign communications
  • Support the training, and engagement of Campaign Cabinet and additional volunteer leaders
  • Prepare high-quality campaign materials, donor presentations, proposals, and stewardship reports
  • Provide timely updates, reports, and analysis to campaign leadership and key stakeholders
  • Ensure alignment with advancement best practices, gift policy, and donor stewardship standards

  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule (nights and weekends) to provide support for events.

 

Competencies/Skills

  • Deep understanding of donor strategy, campaign timelines, and volunteer management
  • Outstanding interpersonal, listening, and relationship-building skills
  • Mission alignment with Catholic/Jesuit education and values
  • High emotional intelligence, professional discretion, and maturity in representing McQuaid Jesuit
  • Familiarity with donor CRM systems including Raiser’s Edge and campaign infrastructure (e.g., gift policies, donor segmentation, stewardship strategies)

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive development or campaign experience, with a proven record of securing major gifts (six figures or more)
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (e.g., MPA, MBA, MA in Philanthropy, Theology, Education, or related field) preferred
  • Experience in educational settings (preferably private, faith-based, or Jesuit institutions) strongly preferred
  • Prior leadership in a capital or comprehensive campaign environment preferred

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a 12-month, full-time position. (40 hours per week – exempt level position). Typically, the days of work and hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m to 4:00 p.m. The schedule is determined by the Vice President of Advancement. Hours may be adjusted depending on the needs of the department, including seasonal events and priorities. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required due to nature of events and activities. Candidates should expect up to 20% travel, encompassing local engagements and select national travel to support strategic initiatives.

Salary Range: $80,000-$120,000
