Overview The Senior Designer works as part of a team responsible for developing a comprehensive, functionally, and dimensionally accurate physical layout of electrical, communications, and other systems based on engineering design, specifications, and materials and equipment submittals to meet project needs and M.C. Dean's constructability objectives. Review construction documents, specifications, BIM execution plan, project-specific design plan, and other documents to identify modeling requirements. Perform basic capacity and voltage drop calculations to validate circuit and pathway sizing. Model and coordinate electrical and low voltage raceways and equipment based on established project-level guidelines and company standards for typical spaces and moderately complex elements of the project. Participate in multi-trade coordination and resolve conflicts. Produce drawings and sketches as necessary, verify, and perform quality review of the completed work. Qualifications Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and related concepts. Knowledge of field installation best practices. Proficiency with critical design software: Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks, Autodesk AutoCAD, BlueBeam, MS Office. Education Requirements: 10+ years of commercial electrical field experience, with experience as a Designer using AutoCAD or MicroStation, and a high school diploma or GED. 8+ years of experience with an associate degree. 5+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree. General Requirements: Attention to detail Strong problem-solving skills Ability to work as part of a multi-discipline team Commitment and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Certifications: Completion of electrical apprenticeship and journeyman or master electrician status is strongly desired. Abilities Exposure to computer screens for extended periods. Sitting for extended periods. Reaching by extending hands or arms in any direction. Finger dexterity to manipulate objects like a keyboard. Listening to and understanding spoken information. Communicating ideas clearly in speech. Reading and understanding written information.
