Power Plant Operator Crete is a 328 MW natural gas‑fired simple cycle generating facility consisting of four independently dispatchable units serving the PJM power market. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate and maintain plant systems in a safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner. Ensure unit reliability and compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. Maintain accurate records and documentation for reporting and archiving. Recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency. Develop and follow standard operating and preventive maintenance procedures. Train other technicians as needed. Safely operate company vehicles. Participate in scheduled and unscheduled night, weekend assignments and call‑outs. Support safety programs and compliance efforts (NERC, environmental, etc.). Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 3 years of direct experience in gas turbine operations and maintenance. Technical training or military experience in a related field. Proficiency in mechanical tasks (e.g., pump/valve rebuilds, motor maintenance). Experience with GE 7EA combustion turbines and GE Mark V control systems. Strong communication, organizational, and decision‑making skills. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other productivity tools. Physical Requirements The physical demands described below represent those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Physical activities including walking, standing for extended periods, crawling, stooping, sitting, climbing vertical and inclined ladders/stairs, operating large valves, and performing tasks requiring up to 50 lbs. of pulling, turning, lifting, or carrying. Exposure to extreme heat and cold. Manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination for operating switches, pushbuttons, and other controls. Visual acuity requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Participation in a post‑offer physical examination and drug screening, as well as ongoing random drug testing. Compliance with strict smoking restrictions in and around the facility. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.
