Registered Nurse Operating Room Charge at Lakewood Surgery Center

\n

Provides quality patient care, delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner within all clinical areas of the facility, including pre-procedure, post-procedure and procedure room. This includes ensuring the Center’s nursing activities comply with necessary legal, regulatory and accreditation standards. This individual also possesses the ability to assess data reflective of a patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to meet the patient’s requirements as well as being able to maintain calmness in a crisis situation and direct staff members appropriately. Promotes customer service and patient satisfaction. Provides clinical management to the department through organizing, coordinating and monitoring the care provided. The charge nurse delegates duties consistent with the scope of practice and function within the philosophy and overall plan of care at the center. May have additional responsibilities as designed by the Clinical Administrator, which include, but are not limited to serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits, and projects.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the OR staff to provide a daily smooth flow of cases.
  • \n
  • Assists in coordination of daily case scheduling in the O.R. with other staff to ensure schedule will flow smoothly (O.R. & X-Ray).
  • \n
  • Prepares monthly call schedules.
  • \n
  • Prepare, coordinate and perform monthly O.R. staff meetings for all OR, radiology, and anesthesia 
  • \n
  • techs.
  • \n
  • Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and provide efficiency and smooth case flow.
  • \n
  • Orders instruments and equipment for cases.
  • \n
  • Coordinate inventory quarterly in all areas of the OR
  • \n
  • Assists with OR education by coordinating and/or giving in-services.
  • \n
  • Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
  • \n
  • Supervise the evening shift which includes coordination of the staff for case completions of the day and setting up for the next day. This also includes Radiology.
  • \n
  • Communicate with physicians to resolve equipment or instrument issues by coordinating ordering or getting repairs done.
  • \n
  • Communicate with vendors and representatives for supplies, equipment or instruments that are needed for cases.
  • \n
  • Works closely with Materials and Sterile Processing Department to coordinate supplies & instrument needs.
  • \n
  • Preparing and administering annual evaluations
  • \n
  • Works closely with manager with hiring and orienting OR staff members
  • \n
  • Helps in revising and preparing policies that relate to O.R. functions
  • \n
  • Assistance in maintaining compliance for Joint Commission surveys
  • \n
  • Enters company data collections and observations with company EDGE
  • \n
  • MIDAS data entry.
  • \n
  • Enters data into Kronos time keeping program
  • \n
  • Assistance with staff counseling as necessary
  • \n
  • Coordinates and assists in Performance Improvement Projects.

Qualifications: 

\n
    \n
  • Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing. Bachelor's degree preferred. 
  • \n
  • Current RN license in the state of New Jersey.
  • \n
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications. 
  • \n
  • Five (5) years of experience in surgery as circulator.
  • \n
  • One (1) years of experience in surgery management which includes pre-op, intra-op, and post-op care. 
  • \n
  • Independent decision making skills. 
  • \n
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects. 
  • \n
  • Excellent communication skills with staff and physicians
  • \n
\n

Pay Range: $52.00/hr - $55.00/hr (Wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.)
