RWE Clean Energy, LLC Starting as soon as possible, full-time, permanent Functional area: Engineering Remuneration: Exempt The Senior Engineer I, Onshore Wind Turbine Systems will be responsible for assessing wind turbine generator (WTG) technology and supporting procurement through pre-selection, contract negotiations, and technical due diligence. This role is crucial in project development, supporting various commercial teams as RWECE expands its portfolio. Role Responsibilities: Lead technical procurement activities for WTGs in onshore wind projects, including tendering and offer evaluation. Develop technical requirements for RFPs in collaboration with engineering and project stakeholders. Negotiate contracts with WTG OEMs, aligning with multidisciplinary teams. Conduct turbine due diligence and coordinate with engineering, construction, and operations. Maintain a risk/opportunity registry related to technology choices and project development. Serve as the technical interface with commercial teams, managing technical assessments and information. Participate in technical discussions with OEMs and consultants, validating reports and evaluations. Support project execution teams by aligning on risk mitigation strategies. Plan and support power performance testing. Research industry trends in onshore WTG technology. Evaluate new technologies for potential adoption to support growth. Develop tools and methods to support departmental goals. Drive process improvements within the team. Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, mechanical engineering or related; Master’s preferred. At least 8 years of relevant experience in wind turbine technology. Experience in technical contracting and project management, preferably in wind farms. Expertise in wind turbine components and subsystems. Ability to align technical and commercial objectives, understanding cost and risk impacts. Knowledge of international standards such as IEC 61400 and DNV GL. Strong organizational skills and confidentiality. Proven results in complex, time-sensitive projects. Effective communication and relationship-building skills. Knowledge of wind yield assessment tools and willingness to travel. Work Environment: Office-based with travel to project sites and offices. Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods. Pay Range: $117,700 - $177,000 annually in Illinois, based on experience and qualifications.
