Overview

We are seeking a motivated Technical Writer Intern to support documentation development across Department of Defense (DoD) programs. This role provides hands-on experience in creating, editing, and managing technical documents in a highly structured environment, including support for engineering, logistics, and acquisition documentation. The intern will collaborate with technical writers, engineers, and subject matter experts to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with DoD standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting, formatting, and editing technical documentation such as:
    • Technical Data Packages (TDPs)
    • Modification Work Orders (MWOs), Technical Manuals (TMs), reports, and other documentation
    • Configuration management documentation
    • Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) artifacts (e.g., LSA-151s, provisioning documents)
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies
  • Apply DoD standards and guidelines (e.g., MIL-PRF-63002, MIL-STD-40051) to ensure compliance and consistency.
  • Support the preparation of deliverables for customer review
  • Participate in Integrated Product Team (IPT) discussions to gather inputs for documentation.
  • Learn and apply technical writing best practices in a DoD acquisition and sustainment environment.

Required:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat.qu
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with technical information.
  • U.S. Citizenship (required for DoD clearance eligibility).
