We are seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Public Works team . This role focuses on traffic and transportation engineering , supporting a diverse range of public infrastructure projects .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage various traffic engineering design tasks for projects such as:
  • Roundabouts, traffic signals, signing, striping, roadway lighting, roadway safety, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
  • Temporary traffic control and pedestrian/bicycle facilities
  • Prepare transportation impact analyses, warrant studies, speed studies, and road safety studies .
  • Conduct fieldwork , including site reviews during design and construction.
  • Gather and analyze data (e.g., sight distance, crash history, infrastructure inventory ) to support decision-making.
  • Perform quality control reviews of engineering plans and reports.
  • Review and provide feedback on engineering plans and studies for accuracy and compliance .
  • Assist with business development , including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and proposal preparation.
  • Engage in client interactions and public communication regarding project progress and impacts.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in transportation/traffic engineering .
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, or Electrical Engineering (or a related field).
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license , or the ability to obtain through reciprocity within one year .
  • Experience applying Caltrans, MUTCD, AASHTO, and city design standards .
  • Proficiency in developing construction documents (plans, specifications, and cost estimates) for transportation/traffic engineering projects .
  • Familiarity with traffic signals, signing, and striping plans .
  • Experience using traffic operations analysis software (e.g., Synchro, HCS, VISSIM ).
  • Experience preparing transportation impact analysis reports .
  • Two years of experience utilizing CADD for roadway and/or traffic engineering design.
  • Strong technical writing and public speaking skills .
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple project priorities .

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Traffic Engineering (TE) License
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) Certification
  • Road Safety Professional (RSP) Certification
  • Knowledge of municipal capital projects, state and federal requirements, and local government policies and procedures
