Position Overview\n

This position is responsible for delivering high-quality care in the field of occupational therapy. The successful candidate will delegate responsibilities to Occupational Therapist Assistants and Aides while ensuring patient-focused activities that involve assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in alignment with occupational therapy standards and physician orders.

\n\nResponsibilities\n

• Patient Evaluation: Assess patients' functional status through formal and informal testing measures, evaluating skeletal, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, developmental, social, and cognitive functions.
\n
• Treatment Planning: Develop a goal-specific treatment regimen based on assessment data and the patient’s ability to engage with the treatment plan as prescribed by the physician.
\n
• Plan of Care Documentation: Prepare and submit a written treatment regime for inclusion in the patient's plan of treatment, ensuring updates reflect changes in patient status. Co-sign verbal orders as necessary.
\n
• Scheduling Treatments: Create a treatment schedule that specifies frequency and duration, and communicate it effectively to patients, families, and caregivers while coordinating with clinical support staff.
\n
• Patient Education: Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers about the pathology or condition, treatment options, prognosis, and the rationale behind treatment interventions, including rest, exercise, and modalities.
\n
• Supervision: Oversee Occupational Therapist Assistants, Home Health Aides, and students in compliance with affiliate and regulatory standards.

\n\nQualifications\n

\n
• Experience in occupational therapy, primarily in outpatient settings, with some experience in acute care.
\n
• Pediatric experience is required.
\n
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
\n
• Valid Michigan state license is required.
\n

\n\nWork Schedule\n

The position requires a commitment to a 40-hour work week, scheduled from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with one weekend of work each month (Saturday).
