Role: UX Designer

Overview

The *** Digital Delivery Team (DCD) is looking for a UX Designer to be part of our growing team reinventing the next generation of user experience for The ***. DCD creates products and experiences for all lines of business at KofC including membership, insurance, charity, programs, scholarships, and investments. We are looking for a determined, curious, experienced UX Designer to be part of creating user experiences for all things digital at KofC for our members, insurance agents, supporting organizations, and online presence to name a few. This person will work collaboratively with a team of project managers, executives, stakeholders as well as UX leadership. You will help drive UX design from early-stage concepts all the way through final delivery and launch. Candidates must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed in a fast-paced environment with a high-degree of independence and ownership to thrive in collaborative work environments.

Core Responsibilities

User Research:

Conducting interviews, surveys, and usability testing to gather user needs and behaviors.
Analyzing and interpreting data to understand user problems and preferences.
Creating user personas and scenarios to represent different user types and their needs.

Information Architecture:

Organizing and structuring content in a way that makes sense to users.
Developing site maps, hierarchies, and navigation systems to facilitate easy access to information.

Wireframing and Prototyping:

Creating wireframes and prototypes to visualize the layout and functionality of the product.
Using tools like Adobe XD or Figma(moving to Figma as XD phases out), to build interactive prototypes for testing and feedback.

Interaction Design:

Designing user interactions with the product(s), focusing on how users perform tasks and navigate through the interface.
Ensuring that interactions are intuitive and enhance the overall user experience.

Visual Design:

Applying visual design principles to create aesthetically pleasing and functional interfaces.
Working on typography, color schemes, icons, and other visual elements to ensure a cohesive look and feel.

Usability Testing:

Conducting usability tests to evaluate how easy and effective the product is for users.
Gathering feedback, identifying usability issues, and making necessary design improvements.

Collaboration:

Working closely with other team members, such as UI designers, developers, product managers, and stakeholders, to ensure a unified product vision.
Communicating design ideas and solutions effectively through presentations, documentation, and design specifications.

User Flows and Journeys:

Mapping out user flows and journeys to understand the steps users take to complete tasks within the product.
Identifying pain points and opportunities to improve the overall experience.

Accessibility and Inclusivity:

Ensuring that the product is accessible to users with disabilities by following accessibility guidelines and best practices.
Designing for diverse user groups to create inclusive experiences.

Continuous Improvement:

Staying updated with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies.
Iterating on designs based on user feedback and changing requirements to continuously improve the user experience.

The KofC UX/Center of Excellence Team aim to create products that are not only functional but also enjoyable and satisfying for users.

Skills Qualifications

Technical Skills:
Prototyping and Wireframing Tools:Proficiency in tools like Figma, Adobe XD & Creative Suite, Zeplin, MIRO.

Design Software:Knowledge of graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar tools for visual design tasks.

User Research Methods:Understanding and experience with various research methods, including user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and A/B testing.Ability to analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions.

Information Architecture:Skills in organizing and structuring content to create intuitive navigation and information hierarchies.

HTML/CSS and Basic JavaScript:Basic knowledge of front-end development can be beneficial for understanding the technical constraints and possibilities when designing interfaces.

Soft Skills:
Empathy:Ability to understand and relate to users' needs, motivations, and pain points.

Communication:Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey design ideas and rationale to stakeholders, team members, and clients.

Collaboration:Ability to work well in a team environment, collaborating with developers, product managers, and other designers.

Problem-Solving:Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify user problems and develop creative, effective design solutions.

Attention to Detail:Keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality, polished designs and user interfaces.

Experience:
Portfolio:Showcasing a range of projects that demonstrate your design process, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in UX design tools and techniques.

Work Experience:Prior experience in UX design roles, whether through internships, freelance work, or full-time positions, helps build practical skills and industry knowledge.

User-Centered Design (UCD):Experience in applying user-centered design principles to create products that meet user needs and enhance the overall user experience.

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or a related field.
