Open to U.S. Citizens/Nationals Duties The Criminal Investigator (Special Agent) duties include planning and conducting investigations related to criminal statutes of tax administration and financial crimes. This may involve access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and other sensitive information, and coordination with DOJ and IRS foreign country attaches. Specific duties at the full working level include: The Criminal Investigator plans and conducts investigations relative to criminal statutes of tax administration and financial crimes, analyzing information from diverse sources and may involve complex accounting problems. Performs other investigative and enforcement duties such as testifying as a Government witness, assisting the U.S. Attorney, and conducting collateral inquiries. Obtains, evaluates, integrates, and recommends actions on information items to identify large areas of noncompliance. This position has career progression. If hired at a lower grade, non-competitive promotions to higher grades may occur as career progresses. Requirements Conditions of employment Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Qualifications Federal experience is not required. One year of experience is referenced for GL-07 and GL-09 levels with specific investigative responsibilities. Education may substitute for experience as described in the announcement. Special requirements MAXIMUM ENTRY AGE restrictions apply to certain law enforcement positions. Physical, vision, and hearing requirements, and medical clearance are required prior to appointment. All medical requirements must be met at the time of initial examination/test. Education For positions with education requirements or substituting education for experience, provide transcripts.
