Position Details

Headfirst Summer Camps is seeking dedicated Junior Counselors who are team players willing to work in various camp programs. While there may be opportunities to specialize, all Junior Counselors are expected to be flexible and enthusiastic, assisting with campers of all ages and interests. We provide training, curriculum, schedules, and equipment, but we need your energy and dedication to bring the camp to life.

Camper Age Range

3-12 years old (program dependent)

Activities Offered

Sports and tournaments in Multi-Sport; story time and music in Day & Junior Day; science challenges and arts in Innovators, Inc. & Sprouting Scientists

Schedule

• In-season (late June - mid August): 7:45 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday
• Pre-season (early June): select weekends for training and site prep

Compensation

$11/hour

Responsibilities

• Bring Camp to Life: Co-lead camper groups, teach curriculum, support safety protocols, facilitate activities, support specialized staff, manage carpool, assist with weather-related activity shifts.
• Nurture Safety: Support campers' physical, social, and emotional development, and learn camper management skills.
• Represent Headfirst: Engage with families and facility partners enthusiastically, maintain camp community, and uphold camp standards.
• Team Participation: Be punctual, communicate effectively, support team members, and support other programs as needed.
• Start Each Day with an Open Mind: Attend staff meetings, participate in training, and bring your strengths while being open to growth.
• Handle Challenges: Practice resiliency, problem-solve, and prioritize camper and team success.

Candidate Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old; applicants over 18 should apply for different roles.
• Ability to work with children, including sitting, standing, running, climbing stairs.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot conditions, supervising campers, and participating in activities.
• Lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
• Adhere to Cell-Phone Free policy during shifts.
